News from the Finnish Seamen's Mission

Football World Cup

Welcome to the vicarage to watch the Football World Cup in Finnish. The TV will be open in the cafeteria during the opening hours. If there are interested, and the supervision can be arranged, watching TV can be organised also outside of opening hours. Ask for more details from the staff.

Ladies' sauna

Ladies' sauna on the last Wednesday of each month at 19–21. Next time on Wed 30.6.

"Sauna" / discussion club

Adam's sauna on the first Wednesday of each month, next time on 7.7.

Summer opening hours

The vicarage in Brussels will remain closed for the summer holidays on 17.7.–16.8. while the Seamen's mission in Antwerp will serve you throughout the summer according to its normal opening hours.

Confirmation class 2010–2011

The Seamen's Mission in Belgium will organise a confirmation class starting on 25.9.2010 and ending with the confirmation on 5.6.2011. Those born in 1996 (or earlier) are welcome to register for the course by 17.9., heli.huttunen(at)merimieskirkko.fi.

  • Sunday school in Brussels on Sundays at 11 in connection with the mass (in the chapel), now on summer leave.
  • Youth evening "Nuorten Night" in Brussels once a month on Saturdays, back in the autumn.
  • Training for group leaders in Brussels will be continued in the autumn.
  • Youth club and training for group leaders in Luxembourg on summer leave, back in the autumn.

  • Au pair evenings once a month on Saturdays will be continued in the autumn.
  • Avartti will be started in the autumn.
  • Bible club in Brussels on summer holidays.
  • Saara's stretching on Wednesdays at 18–19.

During holiday periods the childrens' and youth clubs gather normally. Further details of the different clubs on pages 'Lapset' and 'Nuoret'.

Celebrations in Brussels


The Brussels vicarage celebrated its 10–year anniversary on Sat 12.6. with:

  • at 11 celebrational mass with the sermon by Bishop Seppo Häkkinen, and the blessing to the work given to Katja Honkala, the new Service Manager
  • at 13–16 coffee, salmon soup and programme was offered (speech by Tarja Jalli, greeting by Ilkka Holopainen, choir singing, blues by Kalle and Dede) & the latest Kirkkoset was available for all
  • at 17 a superbe concert given by the group Lux Auribus
  • from 19 onwards a reception was held at the vicarage where the speech was given by Marja Rislakki.

Wanted

Do you know of anyone in Brussels who could rent a room for a Finnish Seamen's Mission's trainee? The training normally lasts for 3 months and the trainees pay the rent directly to the landlord. Kirkkoset
